It's officially been spring for a few weeks now, though lately the weather in Madison has been anything but. After a short and sweet heatwave, our city is back to wearing warmer apparel to brave the unfortunate hail and snow that hit us. How can you dress for spring but still stay comfortable until the weather gets its act together again? The answer's simple- it's all about the mood of spring even when the weather doesn't feel very springlike. So Fashionistas/os, put away that parka for good and look to the white trend that was all over the runways for spring '11. The color gives a fresh, positive feeling to any garment because yes, white is the color of snow, but it definitely defines springtime. Think of white rabbits, white daisies, and the puffy white clouds in a gorgeous blue sky. Look to this Fashionista for the ideal ensemble on a cool and windy spring day. She keeps warm in a cute white peacoat with a swingy skirt, big buttons, and a tie waist. I also recommend layering a crisp white trench coat, which looks uber chic and will block the cold wind. Continue the look with a trend I love- tights and sandals. It's a great way to keep warm while simeousltanously getting to try out those new sandals you're just dying to wear. Dress for springtime even in Madison's cool weather, and before you know it, it will really feel like spring.
Hint: I also love white leather for early springtime. The texture has enough weight to hold it's own in cool weather, but the color is crisp and will keep you positive. Try a white leather bag or pair of gloves.
