TREND: Master the Boho-Hippie Look

What one thing do flowing dresses, Widespread Panic, sweltering 100 degree weather, late night electronic dance parties, swim suit tops, and pitching tents all have in common? Answer: Festival Season.

As every music-lover knows, summer is the absolute pinnacle of the concert-going experience. Numerous festivals offer the unique opportunity to seeing countless performances from your favorite bands, singers, and DJs all in one breathtaking location and amphitheater shows abound country-wide.

However spectacular these four day events of nonstop music may be, they certainly can throw a few curve balls at you when it comes to outfit planning. Since you will generally be watching performances from day to night, it’s important to keep the drastic temperatures in mind when packing. Trust me, I know it’s difficult to figure out a way to look effortlessly chic for 4 days when you’re living out of a tent and showers cost $7, but get creative and it’s more than possible.

This week's Fashionista was sighted wearing the quintessential boho-hippie outfit, crucial for a weekend music festival. With a long white (and light-weight!) tiered skirt and an incredible crocheted crop top with beaded detailing, this Fashionista embodies the spirit of hippie chic. Her subtle bracelets and necklace give the outfit an earthy feel without being over-kill, and her embroidered cross-body bag completes the ensemble perfectly. Casual, yet still fashion and heat friendly, this look is absolutely perfect for dancing the day and night away amidst 50,000 of your new best friends.

Having just arrived back from Wakarusa (music festival in Ozark, Arkansas), last week and fully recovering from it…..yesterday, I have festival fashion fresh on the brain. It really is unbearably hot so I would recommend wearing loose or light weight tops. I am obsessed with the crocheted top this week’s Fashionista is wearing. I would recommend wearing long flowy skirts or denim cut-off shorts with swim suit tops, loose tees, or even scarves. Seriously, find a cool scarf (I love ones with fringe at the ends) and play around with tying it differently until you find a way that it looks best as a shirt.

Hint: Another great way to show off your inner fashionista at a music festival is with headbands and hair clips that keep your hair out of your face and give any outfit instant edginess. Here are a few that I love by Juicy Couture and Jen's Pirate Booty. Also, check out Planet Blue. Almost everything on that website is super chic, versatile and festy fashion forward.
