FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Alix Taylor

Uncategorized

This Fashionista proves that basics don't have to be boring. She pairs skinnies, boots, a denim jacket, and a fun colorful scarf to create a great ensemble for running to class while looking classy. Not to mention the tortoise shell detail of her glasses—a perfect and scholarly look.

Name: Alix Taylor

Major: Comparative Literature

Year: Sophomore

College Fashionista: How would you describe your personal style?

AT: I guess preppy with an eclectic twist. That sounds really silly now that I've said it.

CF: How do you decided what to wear for a typical day of class?

AT: I feel like the music I listen to when I wake up totally dictates what I wear. If you see me running around campus in my cowboy boots I was probably dancing in my room to really obnoxious pop country really loud and making my neighbors really angry around 9am.

CF: What is your favorite item in your closet?

AT: My light brown over the knee riding boots. I wear them almost everyday when it gets cold out, I'm obsessed. Plus they're herringbone on the inside so you can fold them over for a different look.

CF: Who is your style muse?

AT: Jenna Lyons, the creative director for J.Crew. I know J.Crew isn't like super hip and high fashion but she always looks incredible without seeming like she's trying too hard. I met her once in Atlanta and still dream about the sequined cape she was rocking at the time.

CF: How has your style transformed since coming to college?

AT: I definitely dress for comfort here than I did at home. I feel like I need to be able to curl up and read in anything I'm wearing at college without things digging into me or, more likely, flashing everyone in Faunce.

How To: Get this Fashionista's look by investing in a pair of boots and skinnies. Invest in a good denim jacket for fall days. Finish with a statement scarf in a bright color or print.
