THE MUSTS—All the fun, celebrations and random holidays you need to partake in this November

November 1st, 2016 at 2:00am

As soon as November hits, we can practically taste the pumpkin pie. We start pinning and screenshotting every sweet potato casserole recipe that comes across our feed. Our schedule begins to fill up with multiple Friendsgivings. But November brings us more to celebrate than just the opportunity to repurpose leftover turkey.

There is so much to look forward to this month. Mark your calendar now for all these things you MUST do this November!

November 3—Men Make Dinner Day: How many nights do you spend in the kitchen attempting a recipe for you and your man? Switch it up and let him be in charge of dinner. I hope you like burnt grilled cheese, scrambled eggs and/or carryout!

November 5—Book Lovers Day: Hit the books—and for once we’re not talking about that physics textbook you have neglected to open all semester. Release your inner bookworm and dive into the pages of your favorite novel. We suggest picking up George R.R. Martin’s series so you won’t be so “surprised” when the next major character is killed off on “Game of Thrones.”

November 8—Election Day: Whether you are “with her” or are excited to “make America great again,” this historic election day is a big day for America. Our next president will finally be decided (and ending those nasty/annoying political attack ads interrupting our favorite TV shows). Do your part—get out and VOTE!

November 13—World Kindness Day: While we always suggest you mind your P’s and Q’s, today make it a point to be extra kind. Pay for a stranger’s coffee; compliment a passerbys rad sneakers. And, most importantly, be sure to call your mom.

November 17—Take A Hike Day: Come late-November, it is easy to find yourself spending a lot of time in the library. However, it is important to take a physical and mental break. Cease the last of the crisp fall weather and go for a hike with your friends. Whether it is just a long walk around campus or you find a local trail, get some fresh air and perspective as you head into finals crunch time.

November 20—Beautiful Day: So often we tend to focus on the negativity in our lives and the world that we lose perspective on how truly lucky we are. From our surroundings to the smells of nature to all the creatures (human and non-human) that fill it, take some time to listen to the birds chirp and celebrate this beautiful day. And, let’s face it, if anyone is most excited about this day, it has to be Bono.

November 24—Thanksgiving: Family, friends and copious amounts of food? What’s not to love about Thanksgiving. Every family has its unique traditions and special recipes. No matter how you celebrate, just don’t forget to the bring your gratitude and sweatpants.

November 25—Black Friday. (Or National Buy Nothing Day): There are two very distinct camps when it comes to Black Friday. There are those who strategize a game plan, start lining up at 3 a.m. and make a tradition out of elbowing strangers to get a flatscreen TV at 70 percent off. Then, there are those who prescribe to the “National Buy Nothing Day” observance. These people avoid the crowds and consume leftover turkey in their pajamas from the safety of their own kitchen. Regardless of how you celebrate, sounds like a win-win day to us!

November 30—Stay At Home Because You Are Well Day: Why save a day off from responsibility for when you are sick? Channel your inner-Ferris Buller and throw yourself the ultimate day off. Whether you spend all day in bed or set up an at-home spa situation, stay at home because, well, why not?
