THE MUSTS—All the fun, celebrations, and random holidays you need to partake in this March

“March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb.” We have all heard this idiom since probably the second grade. While I am not sure where it exactly came from, I know that it means that spring is, like, super, super close!

Besides shedding our winter coats and spending more than seven seconds outside, March is jam-packed with other (often delicious) reasons to celebrate!

March 1: National Peanut Butter Lover’s Day: For all of you without a severe peanut allergy, you can understand one’s love for a day dedicated to a spoon’s best friend. The holiday is not solely reserved for your favorite pup, because let’s be real—peanut butter is the best snack ever.

March 4: National Day of Unplugging: ‘Tis the day to literally unplug. Hide your smart phones, hide your laptops and hide any other electronic device that distracts you from living in the moment and being mindful. Take today to relax, not worry about the number of likes on your latest Instagram photo and read a book, color, bake, take a long walk or do yoga. There’s so much you can do without technology for a day!

March 8: International Women’s Day: It’s safe to say that CollegeFashionista is a major fan of GIRL POWER and shouldn’t we all be? Take today to educate yourself on gender equality, celebrate women’s achievements in every field, take part in the movement, and be a positive role model for your fellow ladies—both younger and older.

March 13: Return of Daylight Savings: We might get more sunlight, but is it worth it when we lose an hour of sleep? I ask you, readers, is it worth it?

March 14: National Pi Day: There are two types of people on Pi Day: Those who try to list as much of the number π as possible and those who choose the sweeter side of the day and just gorge themselves with pie. I pick the latter.

March 17: St. Patrick’s Day: Wear green and eat a bowl of Lucky Charms. The rest of the celebrating is up to you.

March 20: First Day of Spring: Celebrate the fact that you survived another cold winter by sporting the spring wardrobe you have been curating for the past few months. Pale legs, don’t care.

March 23: National Puppy Day: Do you have no shame in complimenting strangers dogs? Follow more puppies on Instagram than humans? Do you have a pulse? Because basically anyone and everyone will enjoy today because, well, puppies make the world go round. (Photo via giphy)

March 25: Waffle Day: Need I type more? If Lesley Knope would approve, then I think the holiday is something that should be celebrated by all. Bring on the whip cream and waffles, please.

March 26: Make Your Own Holiday Day: Don’t feel like wearing pants today? Need a reason to justify your love for french fries dipped in mayo? Want to pay homage to your favorite movie character of all time (everyone’s is Littlefoot from The Land Before Time, right?) Well, whatever you feel like celebrating today, do it; because today is your fill in the blank holiday.
