STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Suit Up for Fall

Style Advice of the Week

Dressing for class is always tricky because you try to fight the idea of throwing on the yoga pants you have been wearing all weekend and jeans sometimes seem like the most uncomfortable attire to walk around in all day. But as a Fashionista, you still want to look presentable and fashionable. No worries, there is a solution to this dilemma. Try a pair of black dress pants or black leggings with a structured jacket (like a black blazer) and voila, you have a suit combination!

This Fashionista wasn’t afraid to don the darker apparel to look put together for her academic workweek. She paired a black blazer with a simple white T-shirt. Sometimes less is more when it comes to your outfit for the day. Simplicity is often criticized for being a boring way to dress, but it actually shows your potential to be confident in what you are wearing without looking like you are trying too hard. This Fashionista looks effortlessly chic by pairing black pants with her white T-shirt and black blazer. She also noted that the outfit was comfortable to walk around in all day. I would suggest keeping the outfit plain and simple with the pants, jacket and T-shirt. If your style absolutely needs color, then do as this Fashionista has by throwing on a colored scarf or try a colored T-shirt under the jacket.

Suit-like attire doesn’t have to be uncomfortable and doesn’t require a business atmosphere to be worn. My absolute favorite pair of pants are my Ann Taylor black dress pants. They are great because you can wear them to almost any occasion and they are one of the most worthwhile investments in my closet. Fashionistas need an outfit like this in their wardrobe simply because it is classy and timeless.
