STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Dress Your Way Into Winter

Style Advice of the Week

Lately, the weather has been forgiving in Wisconsin. It is December and the weekly temperatures match the temperatures of California on some days. Luckily, this unusually warm weather has also caused a surge in Fashionistas across campus. Instead of bundling up in our serious winter apparel, this week has consisted of sheer tights and shorter coats as demonstrated by this Fashionista.

Even though it's December, that doesn’t mean that dresses only have to come out for holiday parties. Dresses are a nice alternative to the pants that we wear almost every day throughout the winter months. This Fashionista demonstrates the dress alternative for winter by wearing a skater dress with a cool pattern and sheer tights underneath. Skater dresses are usually comfortable and great for wearing during the day, but they tend to be on the shorter side so be sure to find one that is the right length for your body. Pair the dress with sheer black tights like this Fashionista, or you can be bold and try colored or patterned tights as well. Finally, throw on a pair of lace-up boots to combat the walk to class, no pun intended.

Don’t be afraid to mix colors when putting together an outfit similar to this Fashionista's. I love how she paired brown lace-up boots with black tights. This combination is completely acceptable. Mixing brown and black is an unexpected combination that spices up any look, especially when it comes to shoes. If you want to go for an ultra-hip look, throw a pair of oversized headphones around your neck for a cool and effortless vibe.
