WHAT TO WEAR: Casual Date Night

What to Wear

In San Francisco, the cold weather has finally set in. While the actual temperature isn’t anything out of the ordinary, the wind makes the atmosphere feel almost arctic. However, once in a blue moon, the sun rears its head and we get to have a wonderfully warm 70-degree day in the middle of March.

It was on one of these almost magical days that I saw this week’s Fashionista. Her outfit reminded me of everything that is summertime simplicity. The traditional white cotton sundress and denim jacket are both closet staples. Free People’s rocco dress in white and Dolce Vita’s konomi dress in white are both extremely versatile. My favorite thing about white dresses is their ability to enhance your tan. Who doesn’t love that sun-kissed look? Also, take this opportunity to relieve your credit card and go “thrifting” for your denim jacket. There are plenty of secondhand and consignment stores with racks of denim jackets that can easily be bleached, shredded, cut, studded and/or dip-dyed for your own unique DIY — the possibilities are endless. This outfit is perfect for your casual date night; it’s easy, simple and highlights your natural beauty.

One Simple Change: This casual outfit is also perfect for your college’s Career Fair. Since career fairs aren’t scheduled interviews, business casual attire isn’t mandatory. However, this is an opportunity to set yourself apart with a polished outfit. Wear the white cotton sundress, but pair it with a beige cashmere cardigan or tan blazer. If you’re feeling up for the challenge, wear one boldly colored accessory for that fresh pop of color. J.Crew’s pastel and neon statement necklace or Anthropologie’s fairburn necklace are wonderful choices.
