SYLE GURU STYLE: Fall Aesthetics

As the leaves change colors, we too must change our wardrobes and tuck away our shorts and tank tops. *tears* But just because summer is now gone, doesn’t mean your style has to suffer. A huge trend this fall/winter is culottes. Culottes, gauchos and palazzo pants arrived this summer, and now, it’s all about the new, comfortable, wide-legged cropped trousers. They pay homage to wide leg trousers and bell bottom pants from the 1970’s, with a modern twist. When styled well, they can be a versatile addition to your closet, easily able to be worn from day to night, a date, out for brunch on the weekend or even to work (yes, it’s possible).

Culottes are perfect to be worn with any shoe–heels, platforms, sandals, booties, sneakers–and you can pair it witha blouse waiting to be tucked into the perfect culotte, or a graphic tee, a vest and those pointy toe stilettos, and you’re ready to take on the day.

In my look, I wore a knit burgundy, off-the-shoulder crop top from Urban Outfitters, tie-front culotttes from Zara, sandals from Forever21 and accessorized my outfit with a Michael Kors watch and bag.

This fall trend is like a canvas upon which you can do anything to match the style and look for which you’re achieving. Whether you want to look chic and sophisticated or urban and minimalist, culottes are a must-have this fall season.
