Why hello there! My name is Sydney Delancy. I'm from the Bahamas, I’m 19-years-old and heading into my junior year at Manhattan College studying French, Asian languages, marketing and theatre. My hobbies include writing, photography, swimming and my attempts to blog. But enough about that, let's talk about fashion.
I'm been obsessed with fashion, literally obsessed. I got into fashion at a very young age when I would look through magazines such as Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire and the likes with my mother. I remember my childhood being me standing in front of my mirror trying on different outfits to see which ones looked better than the others. This grew to the point where my fashion magazines and cutouts had replaced my floor and most of my furniture.
I go gaga over anything vintage or pastel. I love to have colors that are low key, but I like to throw in neons and deep rich tones every once in a while to shake things up. My one fashion item that I think you can never have too much? Shoes. For me, an outfit can be a hit or a miss depending on the shoes. This is probably one of the reasons why I have more shoes than anything else in my closet. As for my current style, I would say it falls under the category of edgy chic with a no-fuss policy. I like to keep things clean and simple, but of I course I make exceptions with the shoes. However, like fashion that’s always evolving, this current style of mine is likely to change over time.
I don’t love fashion just because it appears to be glamorous or screams money when done properly. I love fashion because it’s an art. It’s a very unique way of expressing yourself and something that everyone can partake in. You don’t need the muscles of an athlete or the brains of a neurosurgeon to be able to participate in fashion or to enjoy it. That’s one of the many reasons I love it so much. That plus the fact that it’s everywhere, no matter where you go, there it is in its own unique form, and it’s something that will never get old or ever die.
I’m excited to be working with CollegeFashionista and look forward to the finds that I will find here in the Bahamas over the summer! I’ll be writing for FASHION FROM ABROAD so look out for my post every Friday!
