STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Step Into Skinny Jeans

Style Advice of the Week

I absolutely love this time of year. The weather is my cup of tea—not too hot where I’m wishing I hadn’t wore that knit cardigan to class, and not too cold where I need to wear a heavy jacket to stay warm. As excited as I am for colder weather, I like the flexibility this time of year offers me.

I immediately noticed this Fashionista as I was coming back from class. She was wearing a black pair of skinny jeans. I glanced around and saw that many of my other fellow students were dressed in workout clothes or light wash shorts. Since it was still somewhat warm outside, I was surprised to see someone opting for jeans, especially ones of that nature and wash.

I liked how she incorporated this colder weather pant with light, feminine clothing details. When I usually think of back skinny jeans, I picture them worn with a white burnout T-shirt, a leather jacket and combat boots. This ensemble, paired with a pretty, ivory, sleeveless top and chunky wedges, made these dark skinny jeans more appealing to those looking for other stylish options. Appropriate for day and night, this Fashionista suggested throwing on a light jacket and a necklace to transform her outfit for a night out.

As a lover of skinny jeans for many years, I appreciate their versatility the most. Black and colored jeans are still a huge trend this season. From light wash to medium-wash and dark-wash to destroyed, this style offers many washes for the fashion forward gal. Day classes or night parties, these jeans can be worn for practically any event.

For your own pair of skinny jeans, try this flattering black pair made by American Eagle Outfitters or this classic, dark-wash style by Gap. If you’re willing to splurge, try this medium-wash jean by 7 for All Mankind. Finally, if you love the colored jeans trend, purchase these BGD Twill Cigarette pant by Urban Outfitters.
