For the past couple of weeks, and this week especially, I’ve seen colored corduroys, various washes of jeans, sweatpants, yoga pants and jeggings all around campus. So, is it finally time to put away our shorts and summer wear as we embrace fall and colder weather wear? Not so fast. This Fashionista’s ensemble immediately caught my eye. She stood out in the crowd of people running to catch the bus or head to class.
She was dressed in an eye-catching, oxblood striped shirt, a sleek leather jacket, combat boots, sheer tights and black shorts. Yes, shorts. But, what I noticed and appreciated most was her tights under her shorts in efforts to look cute and still stay warm. This stylish girl took a fashion risk, while others chose to dress strictly for the weather. I liked how she layered her outfit, making her shorts, a typical summer staple, into a trendy fall piece. Her layered shorts and tights provided a fresh look to fall items that we’ve seen a lot of, such as black combat boots and the classic leather jacket. Her incorporation of various fall trends was impressive.
This look has also been seen on celebrities. Model Kate Moss, Gossip Girl's Blake Lively and Leighton Meester and fashion icon Alexa Chung have all been photographed sporting this trend.
