My name is Serena Morris and I’m from the immaculate state of California and attend the prestigious Howard University. I grew up in the Los Angeles area where fashion is beautifully represented in everyone and everything. The eclectic variety of taste and style is so inspiring and has definitely influenced my own personal style. I live and breathe fashion everyday and have truly developed a passion and love for the art of style. I’m so excited to start writing for CollegeFashionista as a Howard Style Guru! Howard students have such an eclectic and powerful sense of style that I refuse to let them go unnoticed!
I have been a slave to fashion before I even learned the alphabet. I collected my grandmother’s Vogue issues and ripped out and saved all of the pictures that took my breath away and believe me, not much has changed—today I own over 150 magazines! To me, fashion is wearable art that represents you and your personality. My obsessions are NASTY GAL, Planet Blue, Free People and LF and my style summed up is elegant boho-chic. Think of a combination of Vanessa Hudgens, Nicole Richie and Miley Cyrus…well at least I’d like to think so! As far as where I get my outfit ideas from, I think fashion blogs are some of my biggest inspirations because they allow you to not only step inside someone’s closet but their lifestyle as well. Some of my favorite blogs are Song of Style and imfancy.
Fashion is one of the world’s greatest treasures and I only hope to be apart of its transformation and growth. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for future trends and some I hope to soon create! My life motto is to live in love and be free, and I definitely embody that in my personal style and I hope you do as well!
