My name is Margaret Dana Levine, but I go by Maggie. I’m currently a junior at the University at Albany in Albany, New York with a double major in Music Theory and Communication. My hobbies include dance, cello and piano, just about anything involving listening to, reading and writing, and participating in music. This is my first semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista, and I am so excited to get started!
Since being in college, I have become interested in high fashion and trends, but my personal style mantra has always been cute and comfy. Comfort is a must for me. I am constantly on the go and running around campus from one activity to the next, so I hate to be pulling on my blouse or worried about wrinkles. I aim to create stylish outfits that are simple to throw on and comfortable!
I try to keep my everyday ensembles easy to assemble, with clean lines and neutral backgrounds to allow for creative jewelry and accessories. My go-to outfit for the summer has been a flowy sundress and my Steve Madden snakeskin sandals, with my usual Alex and Ani bracelets and my initial necklace. For the fall, I tend to stick with a dark wash skinny jean, a brightly colored tank and cardigan with my everyday jewelry and some kind of braid in my hair. Add my Nine West dark brown leather boots, a matching satchel and my favorite khaki blazer, and I’m ready to go!
While cute and comfy is what I’m all about, I do have one weakness that contradicts my mantra: heels. Give me espadrilles, pumps, anything! If a fierce pair of heels catches my eye in a store, I’m finished. At five foot eight inches, I average out at about six feet in a good pair of pumps or wedges, but I try to rock it anyway. While I may be towering over my friends and wobbling a little by the end of the night in these ridiculously gorgeous heels, I love them too much to mind. My obsession at the moment is Steve Madden’s fall line of studded pumps — I dream about them!
As I begin my semester with CollegeFashionista, I will be searching the campus high and low for unique Fashionistas/os, camera in hand and satchel slung over my shoulder. I’m coming for you, UAlbany Fashionistas/os, so get ready and dress to impress!
