Leopard print is my basic black and my closet contains over 15 different colors of lace in the form of dresses, shorts and shirts. I can’t be bothered to purchase plain white T-shirts when there are just so many other exciting options out there in the fashion world. To me style isn’t an option; it is a multitude of options. I spend my days online window-shopping and people watching, making mental notes of new things to try and different styles to experiment with. I draw inspiration from everyone around me and try to figure out how to make it work within my own wardrobe.
When looking for a truly phenomenal outfit I try to find people who have a solid sense of self. Fashion may seem like it’s all about trends and movements, but it’s more than that. It’s about dressing yourself in clothes that you love and that look good on you. Fashion is meant to help you present the best version of yourself, not a photocopy of what everyone else is wearing. Yves Saint Laurent said it best, “Fashions fade, Style is eternal” and I couldn’t agree more. Trends come and go, having a strong sense of personal style is what will set you apart in the fashion world. I believe in investing in pieces that you love, and can envision wearing for years to come, rather than splurging on something just because it’s the latest trend filling the pages of glossy magazines. Fashion is all about what works for you. Whether its experimenting with new patterns and prints, or sticking to basic colors and streamlined essentials, fashion looks best when you are proud and comfortable. Confidence is what shines through and as a Style Guru I try to wear all my outfits with confidence.
I couldn’t be more thrilled about my journey with CollegeFashionista. Living in the heart of downtown Boston I am constantly surrounded by people making the most daring and darling fashion choices every day. As a liberal arts school, the Emerson College campus is so full of creative and unique individuals that it only makes sense some of that raw talent would spill over into their personal style. I am inspired by the people at my college every day and I cannot wait to share some of the amazing outfits and inspirational looks that I get to see with the CollegeFashionista community.
