They say that less is more and when it comes to fashion; the statement can definitely hold true. Sometimes, the simplest of garments are bold enough to speak for themselves. When I spotted this week’s Fashionista in an American Eagle Outfitter, faux fur trimmed coat and wedges; I just had to know what else she had on. (Before I go on, I must say that faux fur coats have made a comeback and are a huge trend for this winter!) It’s not very often someone mixes American Eagle Outfitters with wedges, and my assumption that hiding under that wool coat (with eye-catching bold brass buttons) was a funky yet chic look was totally right.
First, this Fashionista sported a white, short-sleeved, boyfriend blouse from Urban Outfitters in which she buttoned up to the neck. The top exemplified the menswear trend, which created balance when paired with her fitted and feminine shorts. The top was cropped at a perfect length, making her H&M black lace shorts visible. By adding lace to her look, she added femininity to her oversized top.
Both sheer and lace have become must-haves for fall and this trendsetting Lumberjack only increased my longing for. Pairing black and white basics is anything but boring, but by mixing textures like this Fashionista did, she added an effortlessly edgy vibe to her simple look.
She took the minimal trend look and gave it her own funky twist by adding stacks of vintage bracelets and chunky rings. What really added detail to her classic color combo was her single, gold chain, earring. Lately, we’ve been seeing single feather earrings all over campus but this Fashionista stood out with this charmed accessory. Her braided hair, black Target wedges, black H&M tights and vintage brown satchel given to her by her mother, topped off her chic and trendy look.
To recreate this edgy chic look, pair these black lace shorts From Topshop with this sheer, long-sleeved, button-up from Madewell. Add black tights, chunky earrings, stacks of bracelets and a single long earring for this Fashionista's exact look. Etsy is a great site to find these accessories, but if you're having trouble, try sporting just one of these long elegant earrings from Natasha Couture at Nordstrom. Black cutout wedges from Lulu’s and a brown leather satchel like this one from BDG at Urban Outfitters will complete your look!
