If you live on the East Coast or in an area with a similar climate, then you know how dreary winter days can be. The sky becomes almost completely dark by 5:00 p.m. and there aren’t any leaves on the trees. However, it seems as though the single greatest thing about an East Coast winter is snow. It’s white, symbolic, festive, fun and serves as a great contrast to the otherwise dull atmosphere. So, why not add white into our winter wardrobes as well?
When I spotted this Fashionista, I was pleasantly surprised that she hadn’t followed the “no white after Labor Day” fashion “rule” to a T. Instead, she was wearing an adorable, yet extremely practical bomber style white winter coat complete with a faux fur hood (another super trend for the season). I loved that the coat was a similar style to the types of blouses that have been popular these fall and winter seasons—simple and sweet but still makes a statement. In a city full of black coats, black pants and black boots, this Fashionista’s coat was definitely a breath of fresh air. It also made me come to remember that white is a neutral color just as black is, and can be paired in a multitude of ways. This Fashionista decided to wear a pair of black pants tucked into a pair of tall brown leather boots and contrasted the neutral look with a mint green shirt (another hot color this season).
Winter white is an angelic, uplifting and festive twist that you should add to your closet this holiday season. If you’re looking for a new outfit to wear this upcoming Christmas, check out this white Cable knit Sweater Dress from Joe Fresh. It would look great with some apple red lipstick and a pair of tall leather boots.
