Style Advice of the Week

In an ever-so-changing technology filled world, it’s evident our generation relies on cell phones to tell time. Watches are functional, but offer so much opportunity to set an outfit apart. When I first met this Fashionista four years ago, we instantly bonded over our obsession with Marc by Marc Jacobs accessories, more specifically her oversized sunglasses definitely matched with my patent-leather watch.

Spotted on the University of Oregon campus, she was wearing my favorite Marc by Marc Jacobs patent-leather watch in white. Pay attention to the boots, a definite trend among all Fashionistas I’ve run into. Her hairstyle reminded me of Lana Del Rey, however I’d like to clarify that this Fashionista started it first and it’s 100% natural. Back to the outfit, basics paired with a roughly oversized jacket and a watch can easily create an eye-popping getup for class.

If you don’t already have one in your wardrobe, I suggest investing in a watch that has a classic look, like patent leather. Or, if you’d rather experiment with other colors or oversized styles, you may want to spend less money on a single watch. I’m really digging this La Mer neon watch at Urban Outfitters. It features a wrap-around band for the ladies. Gentlemen are sure to enjoy this retro casio, which brings back memories as a kid, with an aqua-neon spin to it!

Whether you want to keep it classy with white or black, or mix it up with some hot spring colors, you can easily pop an outfit with the most practical accessory: a watch.
