Style Advice of the Week

What fashion student does not worship Coco Chanel? She was ahead of her time, beautiful, courageous and above all, innovative.  Her fashion house produces every “it” item that we all wish to own. Her most pioneering feat is by far the little black dress. Our Fashionista of the week demonstrates how styling a simple black dress can result in a fabulous outfit.

With the shape of it is reminiscent of a shift dress, this Fashionista took a more elegant approach to her attire and paired it with an infinity scarf and knee high boots. The result was a modern approach to a classic silhouette.  Madewell offers a dress that has a similar approach and flatters every body type.  Infinity scarfs have been a staple at most stores. The point of it is to find a color that can match most of your closet and a material that can keep you extra warm. Add a pop of color to your wardrobe and purchase this one by J. Crew.

Textured tights are a staple and it is almost guaranteed that every girl owns a pair. In an effort to not drown yourself in black hues, give dark reds a chance and it will more than likely make the rest of your outfit pop.

Our Fashionista accessorizes her dress with a double buckle vintage belt, which I am obsessed with. After obsessively scouring  the internet I have found a close look alike but for a hefty price.

Many Fashionistas/os  bring to mind Chanel’s well-known quote: “Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance.” Well my dear Ms. Chanel, you may be right, but sometime a little personality through accessories can give us just the perfect amount of style we all need.
