Style Advice of the Week

Fall continues to be my favorite season. Although New England's fall weather is quickly transitioning into winter faster than we are wanting, fall trends are still being seen among campus spots and cafes. I saw this particular Fashionista right when I was working in studio. I was immediately intrigued and excited about her fall look. Here she is wearing a wonderful long J.Crew coat. The brown toned coat against the all dark colored garments add a boost of boldness to her look. As an Apparel student at RISD, my fascination over this coat comes out. It reminds me of a coat you would see in a classic film like Breakfast at Tiffany's. Its a great length and doesn't over accommodate the rest of the pieces in the look. This Fashionista is wearing a styled jacket, Steve Madden ankle boots, BDG pants, a Topshop shirt, an American Apparel scarf and a Nava necklace.

I think we can all agree that although there is a very minimal color pallet to this look, the boldness of the brown coat against the dark garments really make it stand out successfully.  Again, here is another campus trend that I have seen recently. Simple can say a lot.

As the fall season begins to come to an end and the cold front starts to make its return, I would advice you to take this opportunity to get a stand out coat like this one. What color would you choose? What kind of jacket?
