STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Sweater Season

Style Advice of the Week

There really is nothing better than cuddling up on a cold day with a big, cozy sweater. The thick fabric and the loose fit makes me feel so warm inside and out. Give me a cup of tea and a good book and I will be set for days!

Chunky sweaters are always perfect for running around campus all day or even just finishing up your Christmas shopping. They are sure to keep you warm while going in and out of stores and classes, but also keep you at the perfect temperature while indoors too.

These gigantic oversized sweaters pair perfectly with a comfortable pair of leggings. Try out these Lululemon Wunder Unders for a casual day or these Sanctuary Original Grease Ponte Leggings. The big sweater and the tight leggings give a great compliment to each other.

That is exactly what this Fashionista did while she was doing her Holiday shopping. She is wearing an oversized Ralph Lauren sweater with a pair of Lululemon leggings. She also added a pop of color with her brightly colored purse and her gold colored jewelry.

Anyone can cozy up in a big sweater because of it’s universal fit. Doesn’t matter your shape or size, sweaters can always be the way to go! If you’re looking for a long sweater to wear over another shirt, try out this Free People Rugby Stripe Long Cardigan. There is also this simple rag&bone Minetta Pullover to satisfy the needs of anyone looking for an effortless outfit that doesn’t require much prep.

It’s sweater season again so find yourself an oversized sweater of any color or fabric and cozy up!

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Sweater Season

Uncategorized

One of my favorite staples in any Fashionista's closet is an oversized sweater. Thrown over your favorite pair of jeans, worn with leggings or playing peek-a-boo with a sexy dress beneath – the possibilities are endless with a slouchy sweater. Los Angeles weather is often too cool to go without some form of outerwear and too warm to haul around a jacket, so I always opt for one of my big cozy sweaters that will go with any outfit. This season, women get away with wearing a sweater and nothing else.

This week's Fashionista did the same. She wore the eternally fashionable sweater dress and combat boots to go with. Not only did she look adorable – but she was cozy and snug too! Her black and white striped, off-the-shoulder sweater has been done and redone everywhere, so you can get the look too.

When picking a sweater, I love cashmere. Wool and yarn are oftentimes too itchy for my super-sensitive skin so the softest alternative is my best bet. Cashmere can be expensive though, so the best time to scour for some is during the after-Christmas sale season.

Additionally, men’s sweaters are often better quality then the dainty, finicky women’s alternatives, so when looking for an oversized piece, don’t hesitate to shop in the men’s department.

To recreate this Fashionista’s look, go for a sweater dress like this crossed cable alternative. Paired with tights and boots, you won’t hesitate to walk out the door and face the chilly outdoors all the while looking chic. This off-the-shoulder shimmer sweater dress closely replicates what today's Fashionista was wearing. It has that same shoulder bearing, tight fit that I loved so much. With your hair pulled back tight and a great pair of hoop earrings, this easily shifts to nightwear.

The greatness of a sweater is its universality. It is a piece that anyone can partake in because there is a different fit for everyone. Even the sweater dress is adaptable to all body shapes because they are loose in all the right places and meant to keep you naturally beautiful and warm!
