After a relaxing Thanksgiving break, it was nice to come back and ease into another hectic week by writing my post for CollegeFashionista. I was especially excited for this post after shopping the sales during Black Friday and buying the same item that this Fashionista was wearing. This item has been a huge hit in stores, on celebrities and around campus.
I spotted this Fashionista walking to the student center on campus wearing a cute and trendy pair of smoking loafers. The loafer’s basic black color was embellished with studs giving the shoe an edgier feel. Her ensemble included dark jeans, a leather jacket, a black scarf and a black leather handbag.
Dubbed as the “new ballet flat,” smoking loafers have been a major trend for fall 2012. Seen in Steven Madden’s collection and on the shelves at Gap, smoking loafers have been a hit for all style conscious Fashionistas everywhere. Providing style and comfort while giving a subtle “menswear” look, I can see why this trend has quickly escalated.
This shoe’s versatility has been very much appreciated. Celebrities like Jennifer Hudson have worn this shoe on the red carpet by pairing them with a colorful dress, while Beyoncé was seen sporting the smoking loafer around Los Angeles as she ran some errands.
To get your own pair of smoking loafers to support this popular look, try this pair by Steve Madden. Offered in shades of silver and gold, these loafers are sure to make your outfit look fierce. For a leopard print shoe, try these by Sperry Top-Sider. Finally, if you like preppy and classic pieces, you may like this pair by Gap. Don’t miss out on this hot trend!
