When looking to dress for finals, keeping it simple is key. As much as I love showing off my new DKNY feathered mini or BCBG envelope clutch, it isn’t always practical to do so in a room filled with 500 other students who are more concerned with the amount of lead they have in their No. 2 pencil rather than my Stylenomic painted nails.
But still, that doesn’t give us an excuse to be drab, colorless, addied out zombies on the day of the big exam. Don’t get me wrong, I care about the last 40 percent of the class as much as the next Fashionista, but adding a bit of color, mixing and matching some statement jewelry, and trying out a new hairstyle (not including the ‘I haven’t slept in three nights and this is the result’ ‘do) definitely goes a long way.
This Fashionista was spotted in a comfortable yet put together outfit. She rocked a pair of Steve Madden riding boots accessorized with gold detail going up each leg with a pair of simple black leggings tucked into her boots. This Fashionista wore a light pink slouchy styled top with a scrunched tie going up the midline. This Fashionista’s choice for wearing this shirt was well thought out, being both comfortable and practical, the pop of color also keeps her looking feminine. The sleeve length is the perfect length for any library with varying temperature throughout the study sesh. This Fashionista chose a gold-chained statement necklace that fell right above the neckline of her top, extenuating the deep v and she took her curls from her early morning shift and threw them into a chic ponytail.
While accessorizing for finals is often neglected, it is a simple addition that can make all the difference. Nordstrom and Dannijo have some awesome and affordable statement pieces (without making too much of a statement) and Anthropologie has some fashion forward hair accessories. Aritzia has many slouchy styled shirts with variants on color and style.
When looking to dress for finals and finals cramming, take some (small) fashion risks. Try out that new cuff, go for a waterfall braid to hide your potentially greasy bangs, I’d say it’s even appropriate to rock some awesome new shoes such as ALDO’s oxfords or DSW’s low wedges. Have some fun when putting your big day exam outfit together, stand out from the rest of the oversized hoodies and two-sizes-too-big sweatpants and remember always dress to look your best.
