STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Spice it Up with Layers

Style Advice of the Week

I was thrilled when I spotted this Fashionista. As a fan of layering, her particular look was really great and caught my eye. From the collaboration of interesting fabrics, to the laid-back accessory items, the whole look is uniquely tied together as well as eye-catching! Definitely a great alternative look for fal Instead of a fall color pallat of olive greens and soft reds, this particular Fashionista works a dark pallat into her look, successfully.  I appreciate the very minor detailed accessories and garments that make such a fearless debut. From the simple, solid colored sweater to the black suede shoes, it all flows well together.

It has been a rare occasion that I have seen the suede platform shoes, especially in this kind of brisk fall weather. You would expect with fall weather boots would be a popular trend around campus. However,  I appreciate the way this Fashionista has incorporated these shoes into her look. A nice change. They are bold and present confidence, in a subtle way. From my past posts, thats a particular trend that I have appreciated this fall. Simple contribution that end up making a vibrant look. I think another successful contribution to this fall look is the great Rebecca Minkoff bag she is wearing. As an individual accessory, the bag stands alone against both the knitted long sweater and over-all little black dress.  I think we all can agree that when it comes to layering up a particular look for the day, this Fashionista has all the right moves. She carries herself in a confident and adorable way.

Layering has always been a favorite element of fall fashion. That is one reason why I love fall weather the most. Its a time where exploration for mix-match and alternative collaboration of garments and accessories can thrive. I especially like the layering of fabrics and fibers that can be included in such an exploration. From the knitted seather to the suede shoes and gold embellishments on her bag, all the options can be fun and exciting.

As you go about your last few weeks of fall weather, take the opportunity to explore the limitless options for layering clothes and accessories. Take a chance to pull out your old wool sweater and find an alternative way you could wear it. Add a boost of color and confidence with the support of accessories and other textured garments.

If you are looking to replicate this particular Fashionista's look, feel free to explore shops like Free People and Urban Outfitters where you can find the contrast of options with textured garments from Free People and solid, yet interesting combinations at Urban.
