Style Advice of the Week

I couldn’t help but go up and talk to this chilly but adorable Fashionista walking around campus. While all Seattleites are bundled up for the brisk November weather, this Fashionista caught my eye with her chunky scarf and shearling trimmed jacket. She displays the perfect balance between being bundled up for warmth and style.

I have been all about utilizing shearling this fall and winter. I think a great shearling bomber is needed in any cold weather climate closet. While looking for your perfect shearling addition, there are a couple of different styles to consider and embrace. First is the chic, Sherpa-esque or bohemian inspired jacket. Although it serves as a great utility as warmth, it must be worn by a daring Fashionista. It is also making a comeback on the runway. I personally go for a shearling jacket like the one this Fashionista was wearing — a bomber jacket. While holding in warmth, it also serves as a great textural addition to any Fashionista's wardrobe. I love how this Fashionista kept her warm outfit casual by pairing this jacket with a chunky knit scarf, which added more texture to her great monochromatic dark jeans and black boots combo. Try pairing this jacket with a more feminine and flowy top to break up a seemingly masculine or boring look.

It's always fun to play with different textures! This is such a great way to welcome the cold weather and a perfect excuse to buy a new coat for this winter. Bundle up in shearling this winter not only to stay warm, but also to put your best fashion foot forward.
