Blending feminine and masculine items into one look has always been a favorite of mine. It really started a few years ago with an obsession with mini dresses and leather jackets, but has evolved into this sort of grunge-soldier-meets-Goth-doll look. This fall is the perfect time to sport this look because it combines so many different aspects of the season’s trends. Try pairing a winter white dress with a distressed army jacket, oxblood lipstick, tights and heels, or invest in a khaki green military coat for the winter months to top your swanky going out looks. The juxtaposition of the harsh and masculine outerwear against the soft, feminine dresses seriously looks killer.
This Belmont University Fashionista was found rocking this fall trend. She paired her military jacket with a rose printed black maxi skirt and a black and white mod-esque top. A skinny black belt was used to cinch in her waist and accentuate her curves, which is crucial when wearing masculine outerwear. She finished off the look with black lace-up combat boots. If she were going out later that evening, all she would have to do is throw on a pair of heels and a dark lip. She could even tie her hair up into a loose bun.
You can’t really go wrong with a look like this. With the addition of a military style jacket, no outfit will look overdone. It instantly creates effortlessness to even the most sparkly of ensembles.
