STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Savvy Style With Dressy Dresses

Style Advice of the Week

While some Fashionistas pride themselves in their ability to dress up a T-shirt with killer heels, red-hot lipstick and a blazer, there is also a fine art to dressing something down. Although we all love to splurge on that one dress for date night or formal, after their one night of use, the dress will most likely sit in the closet waiting for another occasion to be brought out. This Fashionista, however, showed how to transform her formal dress with a look that is perfect for class.

As she is able to dress it up or down, this Fashionista’s green chiffon dress was the perfect piece for her to indulge in. She used a white floral belt to belt the dress at her waist to add some dimension to the dress while adding a more casual feel to her look. While she could have chosen to dress her green garment up with a pair of heels and a statement necklace, she covered her shoulders with a beige cardigan that is both practical for class and, again, more casual.

Her shoes, however, were what enabled to truly achieve lady-like perfection for class without appearing too over-the-top. The camel boots added another hint of color that grounded her outfit, while her knee-high socks added warmth and comfort. By keeping her environment in mind, this Fashionista made her formalwear appropriate for just about any environment.

While it makes sense to occasionally splurge on a dress for that special occasion, make the best use of it, as this Fashionista did, and convert it to something you can likewise wear during the week. Try pairing your dress with patterned tights, socks and boots to cover your bare legs or layer the dress with a chambray shirt and even a sweatshirt. By layering and accessorizing, any Fashionista can be as savvy as she is stylish.
