The best way I could possibly think to define a jumpsuit: it looks omg-amazing on the mannequin, but terrifying on anyone who dares to try it on. Am I right, or am I right? Jumpers may or may not be one of the most difficult garments to try to pull off—but this week, I bowed down to a Fashionista who knew how to work what she wore. Proving that the mannequin is all talk and no game, this Fashionista flaunted the most perfect jumper getup outside of the dressing room doors and onto New York City sidewalks. So many props.
What is her secret to style success? It’s a no brainer—just accessorize. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: accessorizing is a Fashionista’s very best sport. It would be a shame not to put such a fantastic skill to good use. In the case of this jazzed-up jumpsuit, it’s clear to see that this Fashionista knew what she was doing. Cinching a belt just above her natural waistline, she created an hourglass silhouette that would have otherwise just been an unflattering bland shape. It also helped to break up the monochrome color and gave our eyes a focal point. Playing around with belts at different positions on your waist will help you figure out the best placement and silhouette for you. Moreover, this Fashionista added a silver oversized pendent necklace that matched the buckle on her belt and cool aviator shades to battle the sun. Already blown away by her accessory spectrum, the cherry on top of this outfit was her feather hair extensions. As if she didn’t already seem super funky and awesome, the feathers made me want to become her best friend. Everything about this Fashionista’s attire said that she wasn’t afraid to be bold and style her life on the wild side.
This week, make sure to step up your accessory game. What looks good on a mannequin could look ten times better on you with a little bit of creativity! If this Fashionista can pull off a jumper, you can too. Invest in basic accessories that you could make use of throughout your wardrobe. Look out for skinny belts, scarves, hanging necklaces and watches. Never underestimate the power of accessorizing.
