STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Rain, Rain, Go Away!

Style Advice of the Week

Originally hailing from Southern California, I’ve done my share of eye rolling when I see girls break out their rain boots once the weather dips below 75 degrees. Since moving to one of the rainiest regions in the country, however, I’ve discovered just how necessary they are. In the constant downpour, they’re possibly my favorite and most essential piece for keeping dry on a dreary, rainy day. This week’s Fashionista is rocking a darling pair of wellies, showing how easy and functional they can be.

While there are so many patterns and choices of rain boots available, sometimes it can be hard to pull off a pair without looking too childish. Our stylish student of the week picked a black pair that went seamlessly with her outfit. Her choice of boots in a dark color kept her looking chic and understated, but well prepared for the impending rain. Since there are so many choices for rain boots, I’ll just lead you in the direction of my favorites. My holy grail pair of wellies are these structured, sleek Original Rain Boots from Hunter. They are simple, but very flattering and come in an array of hues. For those of us that prefer a shorter boot, these Loeffler Randall booties are killer. If you're looking for more of a statement boot, try this super cute Splendid pair.

Fellow Fashionistas, I can’t believe I ever thought rain boots were so frivolous. There have been many times where I’ve walked into giant puddles on campus, soaking my jeans and my favorite boots, and wished I had been better prepared There is such an array of different styles that cater to virtually any taste, including lace-ups, riding or motorcycle boots, sophisticated patterns and even heeled versions to update this classic accessory for those cloudy, rainy months.

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Rain, Rain, Go Away!

Style Advice of the Week

Fall is by far my favorite time of the year, but with fall comes a fair share of gloomy mornings, thundershowers, stormy afternoons and those dreadful overcast rainy days. While most may just throw on a pair of sweatpants, a sweatshirt, a hat and rain boots and head to class, it’s just as easy to put on a comfy, cute fall look even on these types of miserable rainy days. Here’s how.

Jeans or leggings are a perfect basis in creating a flawless rainy day look. The next order of business is finding a cute sweater, blouse or comfy long sleeved shirt that sends the laidback “I didn’t even really try this morning” message. With the addition of boots, whether they be the classic rainy day Hunter’s, or even Frye or Tory Burch, any will make for a comfy, relaxed, rainy, fall day look. This Fashionista puts on a smiling face even though the weather isn’t shining so brightly. Pairing a warm and cozy cashmere sweater with blue jeans and adorable boots is an effortless fall look acceptable on the gloomiest of mornings.

So next time it’s pouring outside, try dressing up a little bit. Throw those sweatpants out the door and opt for a comfy, cute and stylish look perfect for any fall rainy day.

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Rain Rain Go Away

Style Advice of the Week

April Showers do tend to bring in May flowers, but t's always difficult to break out the fun spring trends like pleated skirts and pastels if you know you'll be hit with a downpour on the way to class.

I spotted this Fashionista in the middle of a gloomy day wearing the hottest red lip. She decided to go on the safe side and chose fabrics like the tan pant and light blue sweater top that were not as shear and light, in case the mid-day rain pelted her fab look. The classic, conservative look is always one that can be found at places like this one from Ann Taylor.

I really loved how this fashionista accessorized with the classic strands of pearls like these by Kenneth Jay Lane. She threw on her quilted Burberry, also a classic, and finished off with a great pair of quilted ridding boots. Remember Fashionistas, sometimes less is more and this Fashionsita proved the classic looks never goes wrong.

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Rain, Rain, Go Away

Uncategorized

The city of Los Angeles went into hibernation last week as we all endured day after day of endless rain and storming. While some people cried and sloshed around pouting, others made the best of the situation, dusted off their favorite jackets and brought out their good boots. I found these two girls smiling and laughing walking in from the rain and I couldn
