In the words of Bob Dylan, “the times, they are a changin’.” By times, I obviously mean the weather. Yes, October is in full swing and we’re in that awkward time period where it’s not quite freezing out, but your summer wardrobe will no longer suffice. Now is the time to bust out your light jackets and fun boots before the bitter Indiana winter hits.
I thought this Fashionista’s way of embracing the cooler weather was effortlessly trendy. I couldn’t help but be reminded of the '90s grunge look by her combination sweatshirt/denim jacket and messy hair. A great jean jacket is the perfect item to have when you just need to throw on something for class. Places like Madewell and Forever 21 have a nice selection of different denim jackets to choose from.
Colored pants are another trend that I see a lot on campus these days. Perhaps it’s because they’re a fun and different way to add some color to these gloomy days in West Lafayette. This Fashionista’s jeans say, “I’m ready for fall” in a deep burgundy color. Try adding some color to your bottom half with jeans in more subdued fall colors such as plum or mustard yellow. Then you can pull everything together and throw in a splash of boho to your ensemble with some tall fringe boots and an embroidered backpack like this Fashionista does. If you’re feeling nerdy, throw on some big spectacles. Who cares if you don’t actually need glasses? I won’t tell if you don’t!
I love the way this Fashionista takes many popular trends of the moment and blends them together to create a grunge/boho/nerdy look. Try combining different looks of the moment and see what kind of hybrid outfit you can come up with!
