STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Military Mogul

Style Advice of the Week

With the first snowfall here at SHU, it’s no wonder that Fashionistas are flaunting their most fashionable snow gear! From rain boots and knitted gloves to oversized winter jackets, students across campus are looking for fun ways to make a statement while staying warm.

As this week’s Fashionista posed for her CollegeFashionista debut, I couldn’t help but notice her skull embellished phone case as she carefully placed it in her pocket. I loved the detailed skulls, as they jolted from the faux leather background making a bold statement. This SHU student also flaunts an army green Michael Kors parka with fur detail and gold plated buttons. Her signature Burberry rain boots also stand out as the classic plaid print matches perfectly with her choice of outerwear, downplaying her military themed outfit as she went for a more comfortable-chic look.

Army green has become one of the hottest colors this season as well as in seasons past. The military trend has undoubtedly held up strong in the fashion industry, as designers such as Victoria Beckham and Burberry’s Christopher Bailey incorporated some militaristic flair in their fall 2012 runways. It is evident that this fashion fad is here to stay as green hues, bomber jackets and utilitarian boots can be found lining the perimeter of every boutique and department store alike. If you find yourself hesitant to jump on the military bandwagon, go for a more feminine chic military look such as the ones featured in Burberry’s fall runway show. Fashion holds no guidelines or instructions, leaving you plenty of room to be creative when mastering your own military look!
