STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Make A Statement

Style Advice of the Week

There are mornings when I can barely find motivation to put on pants, let alone a necklace. One particular morning when I was salivating behind a pair of dark sunglasses, this Fashionista reminded me of the power of a statement necklace.

No bright colors or wild prints are necessary to make this Fashionista stand out; a chunky metal necklace says it all. The tan hue of both her necklace and shoes coordinate nicely with her khaki pants. Nothing is worse than donning an obnoxiously bright necklace with a mismatching outfit for the sake of novelty. I take that back — UGG boots are much worse. NASTY GAL has statement necklaces, like this quirky chain necklace or triangle collar necklace, that will have you looking more put together without breaking your college budget.

The neutral color palette of this Fashionista’s clothing perfectly offsets her statement accessories. A pair of khaki-colored pants is an essential wardrobe staple for every college student. Loose fitting khakis, like this Fashionista's, are ideal when wanting to look presentable, yet also wanting feel like you’re wearing pajamas. Once you have consumed a few cups of coffee, change into these more tailored khakis and you’ll be ready for an interview.

If you have yet to invest in a jean jacket, the time has finally come to do so. Denim is no longer just for pants. Jean jackets are great as a neutral staple or attention piece when dip dyed with D.I.Y. In the many hours you spend shopping on the Internet instead of doing homework, look for the perfect statement necklace. Always build an outfit with a source of inspiration and a mission to make a statement.
