STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Lace isn’t just for Grandma Anymore

A few years ago, I wouldnt have worn lace for a million dollars. Lace used to mean grandma's old tablecloth and the smell of mothballs, but this fall, lace is everywhere. Tons of celebrities have been spotted wearing lace, and it's been in almost every fashion magazine (Taylor Swift is wearing a beautiful lace dress on the November issue of Glamour).

I know it's hard to take a look from the pages of a fashion magazine and wear it to class. Certain looks just don't transfer well from the pages of Vogue to the desks in the classroom. That doesn't mean you cant take inspiration from the mags, like this Fashionista did, and incorporate a little lace into your wardrobe.

This Fashionista kept lace casual by pairing her lace top with skinny jeans and bright sneakers. I love the sneakers because they are a personal touch that shows you just the type of Fashionista she is. If you want to keep it casual like this girl,  get a lace top like this one by Lucky Brand Jeans. You can pair it with jeans, cargo pants, leggings, khakis, or anything else. The possibilities are endless.

If you want to dress up your lace for a night out or a class presentation, this dress from Urban Outfitters will do the trick. It comes in tons of colors, and the lace isn't overpowering.

Hint: No matter how you choose to wear lace, you can customize it to fit your personality. You can pair it with bright sneakers like this Fashionista to show how fun you are, or pair it with a strand of pearls for a classy, feminie look.
