The kimono has been one of this year’s biggest hits and high street has finally caught on to them. Be it a cover up or a dress, our favourite stores are truly spoiling us for choice.
The kimono originates from Japan. It’s a traditional garment and a true statement piece. It translates to a thing to wear and I believe they are fantastic things to wear. Comfortable and classy all wrapped in one.
This Fashionista is wearing a H&M kimono dress that she snatched in the sale for £7. The fringing on this dress adds great appeal. The black and white print on this kimono dress is unique and utterly gorgeous. It could easily be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Her faded plum jeans are cute and very much on trend. And her bright jellies are vibrant and fun, adding youth. The perfect mix if you ask me. To complete her look, this Fashionista has grabbed a Primark box bag and an oversized black ring. So simple yet so effective.
For night time, bypass the jeans and sandals and reach for some bold black wedges. Other kimonos look great over a little black dress or a plain jumpsuit. Queen of the kimono, Nicole Richie, would agree.
So, now you might ask where to shop to get one (or some) of your own. Well, ladies, just about everywhere: Primark, River Island, Topshop (all of our high street faves). Each offering different shapes, patterns and details.
Hint: Look for silk material to add glamour. Not only will you look a million dollars but you’ll feel it too.
