Style Advice of the Week

I know I always write about how changing temperatures affect the clothing choices of the Fashionista/os that we know and love, but it’s so relevant to having any sort of style. While being bold and fashionable is chic, being cold and fashionable is not.

On this brisk November day, I spotted this Fashionisto on the way to class. While his ultimate goal was to stay warm, he also gave me a utilitarian-military vibe with his clothing choices.

The color blocked puffer vest styled over his denim jacket incorporates layering from the summer months in a cool and practical way. Paired with olive green cargo pants, his look screams army chic. The burgundy scully and über cool boots complete his look and make it practical for the cold months ahead.

Don’t be afraid to incorporate some of these pieces into your everyday wardrobe; they don’t have to be donned at once. For instance, this down vest from Rugby can either be the focal point of your ensemble or it could double as a staple piece. This denim button-down from American Eagle is great for layering as well. Worn under a puffer vest or snuggly underneath this lambwool sweater from J.Crew, a denim button-down is a must have. Finish off the look with these oxford booties from UGG Australia; they’re a welcomed break from the overdone classic look we see every winter.

With Jack Frost upon us, it’s important to embrace our unique style and at the same time stay warm. There’s nothing worse than a Fashionista/o knocked out of the game because of pneumonia.
