The rain has been nonstop here this season, but I couldn’t help but notice this Fashionista waiting at a bus stop on one of those infamously rainy days in Seattle. Upon looking back at this picture and sitting down to write this piece, I was staring at the photo wondering what to focus on. I realized that what struck me was her subtle use of color and stripes. I have always loved a bold stripe, especially around the holidays. It is great to see someone embrace this bold striped sweater. As I looked closer, I noticed the addition of the forest green stripe. This little detail not only utilizes one of my favorite fall and winter colors but also adds interest to a basic look. While this exact sweater may be hard to find, it is easy to find color blocking this season and achieve the same idea. It’s a simple idea: add some interest to a basic look!
I also noticed the perfect pop of her red cuffs. A coat is an unexpected way to add interest and details to your outfit. If you can’t find interesting cuffs, try to look for a great lining or piping like this coat. It still gives interest without looking for that hard to find detailed coat.
There are a couple of things to remember when attempting to recreated a detailed and interesting look. For one, try to keep the rest of your outfit simple. Try basics to make sure your details really pop. This look adds so much interest to an otherwise basic look. It's great for winter, not to mention super sophisticated. They say it’s all in the details and I 100% agree.
