STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: In The Spirit Of Ralph Lauren

Style Advice of the Week

Last week was probably the last time that Middle Tennessee will see warm weather for a few months. Currently here at MTSU you will need a jacket or a very stylish blazer to beat the drop in temperature. As you can see from my previous posts the weather here is temperamental and will fluctuate from day to day. I digress; this Fashionisto here combined the best of summer with the most comfortable of the fall. I am in love with his Ralph Lauren vibe!

The rich emerald of his preppy cardigan, combined with the red shorts really makes a statement. It’s great that he's not afraid to wear color, like so many men are. I also like the addition of a third color with the tie; if you look closely you will see an amazing shade of royal blue amongst red stripes. He also added one of my favorite tried and true staples, the white button-down. I honestly feel every Fashionisto and even Fashionistas should own one or two in different textures and cuts. And ladies don’t be afraid to snag one from your boyfriend’s closet, or you can buy one in the men’s section with a slightly slouchy fit. Another thing to take note of here is his brown leather loafers. Loafers are having a big moment this fall, and ladies you can also find the loafer shape in very lady-like heels as well; this is a cool way to put a spin on the menswear shoe.

Since the temperatures are cooling off I suggest you swap out the red shorts for a pair of red trousers or jeans. They can honestly go the distance much like a well worn pair of blue jeans. If the whole bold color thing scares you, pair them with neutrals and you will still look put together.

To recreate this look try this cardigan here from Express or this one from Forever 21. For pants, I like this versatile option that's also from Express. We can’t forget the shoes! For a nice pair I’m sending you to one of my favorite online stores, ASOS, for it’s shoe offering by River Island.

Remember to dress like you mean it this fall and try to add some color into your fall staples like this Fashionisto here.
