This week's Fashionisto is Mikhael, he truely has an international wardrobe. Take a look at his eye-catching canary yellow hi-tops from Korea, his awesome chunky knit blazer from Portobello market matched with a beautifully embroidered scarf from Pakistan. This week I'd like to pay special attention to his drop crotch trousers. Inspired by the loose fitting bottoms worn in India, Turkey as well as southern and central Asia, the style has slowly crept into mainstream fashion as a new cut of jeans in the last few years. This week's Fashionisto picked up his pants in Istanbul; known as şalvar in Turkish, the loose fit keeps the legs cool but bunches at the ankle to stay practical, apparently they're very popular with older folk.
I've noticed that Harem pants have been popular in Korea for a while now, you can find lots of loose fitting jeans, sweats and harem pants with pleated, layered and asymmetrical designs at YesStyle. My personal ASOS picks are the Princesse Tam Tam offering or these Freddy Harem Pants which should keep you cool during this summer. These choices in particular still offer a drop crotch cut, but wont swamp your figure. For the gents among us I'd recommend the Religion Drop Crotch Cargo Shorts, or these Drop Crotch Chinos - literally faultless when paired with a black tee and your trusty Ray-Bans. Take a step away from you ex-girlfriend's super skinny jeans and leave some breathing room this summer, think of them as fashionable sweatpants!
