With bright colors popping up in so many trends this season, it wasn’t surprising to me when I noticed a dye technique become prevalent in fashion. Ombré, or dip dye, has made its way into hairstyles, nail polishes, and now clothing this year. An alternative take on the stripe, and more dramatic than the color block, ombré is a unique-looking and out of the ordinary way to introduce more color into your winter wardrobe. Ombré pieces are statements of their own and can make classic pieces look vibrant and new.
Meg styled her ombré button-down with simple black boots and leggings. The contrasts of color make the ombré even more pronounced, and don’t take attention away from it. Gem bracelets and metallic statement pieces like a peace sign also complement the cool colors of the ombré.
If you want something warmer than a rayon button-down, Quiksilver sells a raglan ombré pullover-style sweater made from comfortable terry and lined with fleece. Another knit option is Sparkle and Fade’s blended cotton pullover with ribbed detail at the neck, cuffs and hem. Meg’s top is Tobi’s button-down comes in violet and teal with pronounced double flap pockets. Vince Camuto’s button-down has a banded collar and could be dressed up for the holiday party season with tuxedo pants.
