Style Advice of the Week

With the semester coming to an end, there’s only one thing on most student’s minds: finals. Wrapping up the semester is always a hectic time but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t care about how you look. Long hours in the library means you’re bound to see everyone you know, so why not give your finals week look a boost? Personally, looking polished and put together always makes me feel more productive and helps me get more done throughout the day, including schoolwork. Today’s Fashionista is a great example of a smart student who kept her trendy style in tact while still looking laidback and comfortable as she finished up the fall semester.

The first item that sparked my interest in this look was this Fashionista’s pants. While I’ve mentioned before that the labor day white rule is a thing of fashion’s past, it still takes a brave Fashionista to rock this light colored pant in the middle of December and I love how daring that is. The reason these pants are 100% winter ready is because they are corduroys which is a classic cold weather fabric. By mixing the summery color with this winter material, this Fashionista is making a statement while also looking seasonally appropriate. Cream and white cords have been catching my eye everywhere recently, so keep a look out and snag a pair for yourself!

The rest of this Fashionista’s look is all about layering. Her basic grey T-shirt is almost totally concealed by her warm red flannel shirt and her boho paisley pattern scarf. Her knee length army green safari-style coat is another great winter staple that makes this outfit a little cooler with its trendy fur lined hood and flattering loose fit. This Fashionista topped off her outfit by adding a pair of perfectly distressed brown leather combat boots and a belt of the same color that compliments the shoes perfectly.
