STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Cool In Cord

Style Advice of the Week

It’s officially the best time of the year. No, not the holidays — the end of finals! It’s time to wean ourselves off the caffeine addiction and finally decide it’s time to sleep. Thankfully, the weather back home is gloomy and rainy—perfect for an “Arrested Development” marathon and sleeping for three days straight. I’m not the only one who did that, right? With the cold weather come warm sweaters and cozy beanies.

This week’s Fashionisto is wearing black slim fit jeans, a black, purple and gray corduroy pullover with a gray beanie. I love the cord pullover — it’s unique and the deep purple and gray break up the black in his look. I have been loving cord in men’s fashion lately and it’s perfect for the cooler weather. Cord pants, button-downs and five panel hats have been seen this season. This button-down from American Apparel is a micro-corduroy—it’s not as thick as a usual cord material would be which makes it much less constricting. The gray one would look great with black jeans and a crewneck sweater. I love this Huf hat. It's not just on my boyfriend’s wish list — it’s on mine too (we all know girls look just as good in camp caps as guys do). It’s the perfect hue of red and the corduroy makes it stand out. Pair it with black button-down and dark pants. Another way to wear cord is the most popular way: as pants. Wear them the same way you’d wear any other pants; they add the perfect amount of texture to any outfit. Pair these Levi's with your coziest pullover or favorite button down!
