As a self proclaimed Fashionista, its been years since I have put on an outfit in the hopes of gaining peer approval. Over the years my thoughts have shifted away from what is trendy and accepted by others and moved towards what I love and makes me happy. Most of the time I'm okay with my peers being a little confused by what I wear. A dress with boots in the middle of summer? A denim button-up and jeans? But every once in a while it’s nice when somebody compliments your outfit and makes your day.
This particular Fashionisto was beyond excited to talk to me when I told him I loved his look. One of the most rewarding parts of being a Style Guru is doing exactly this for others. He was all smiles and giggles when I shot his outfit and talked to him about the pieces, which made my job infinitely more fun.
What drew me to his outfit was the light color scheme. As fall approaches most people, including myself, are moving towards darker colors. Pine green, maroon and navy are the hues to look for this fall. However, a certain set of designers decided to go in the opposite direction for fall and winter this year it's all about white and pastels. Designers such as Simone Rocha and Jil Sander showed these soft colors in updated silhouettes for the colder months. If you get tired of the typical cold weather neutrals, these shows are the place to find inspiration.
This Fashionisto did an amazing job at making his cream Banana Republic jeans and vintage button-up work for a cooler day. If you too want to bring these colors into fall and winter, white bottoms are the way to start. These jeans from Zara are gorgeous and have a baroque detail on the pocket to add a little flair. Pair these with whatever pastel top you already have in your closet. If you love white-on-white as much as I do, a white fur jacket would top off this look perfectly. If you are a little more hesitant, throw on a burgundy blazer and you will look just as chic!
