There’s no question that spring has sprung on Bucknell’s campus. Beautiful pink cherry blossoms line the paved pathways, green branches cover the quad and the baby blue sky shines on to campus, gleaming with summer novelty. A perfect way to contrast the colorful spring vegetation is by embracing the spring trend of the white eyelet. Eyelets are a trend that evoke a ‘70s hippie vibe: they're light, fresh and flirty for spring and summer. Dolce&Gabbana featured this trend on the runway and now Fashionistas everywhere are embracing this clean spring look.
I spotted this Fashionista on a sunny Saturday and loved the fresh look of her eyelet dress. Eyelets don’t always have to be white, but I love the way they looks when they're paired with bright colored accessories. This Fashionista wears a pair of turquoise dangly earrings, similar to this pair from Urban Outfitters, that amp up her eyelet dress a little more while providing great contrast. With a simple gold chain bracelet on her wrist, this Fashionista looked sweet and delicate.
Eyelets have trickled down from the runways, breaking away from their flower-child ‘70s association, and instead being seen at many shops this summer. They've been incorporated into dresses, tops, skirts and shorts so you are bound to find one piece for a springtime ensemble. This skirt from Free People comes in black so it gives the eyelet an edgier flair for more versatility. Paired with a graphic tee, a cool pair of sandals and some sunglasses, this skirt would be suitable for any sunny day. Another dressed up version of eyelets that I love is this shell top from J.Crew. It comes in bright red and crisp white so it can match whatever look you are trying to achieve. Eyelets are one of those trends that never go out of style and completely lend themselves to experimentation, so go ahead and try it!
