STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: A Pant-oramic View

Style Advice of the Week

Historically, pants were liberators from the inhibition of long skirts. We might regress a little in the summer with our maxis, but there’s a liberation front coming in the fall. As Fashionistas, we are no strangers to finding inspiration in the past, and this fall’s bright pant has Mad Men written all over it. These aren’t the black slacks your mother made you wear to religious services, but tailored pants are back with a bright vengeance.

Brights are this season's neutral base palette, so don’t be afraid to invest in a pair that is a little beyond your comfort zone. Try fall’s radical tangerine with your favorite large, cozy camel sweater. Perfect the monochromatic trend with cranberry bottoms and a silk maroon top. Mix prints with J.Crew’s silk patterned pants and a large stripe.

This Fashionista chooses another fall “it” color with her electric blue pants. She keeps the well-deserved attention on her bottom half with her neutral stripes and matching shoes. Her crisp button-down keeps the look tailored, maintaining the naturally clean-cut appearance of her pants.

Zara’s fall collection sports a European twist on what they deem “trousers,” from simple blacks to surprising patterns. Preppies and bohemians alike will love their damask burgundy silk pair. J.Crew’s website sports a lookbook complete with the mixing and matching of their fall pant collection. So ladies, although we no longer need to prove the point of our freedom of suffrage and speech, we can still prove the point of our freedom of fashion in some fabulous pants.
