Back to school is the time for a fresh start and new opportunities, so looking your best is absolutely essential. New classes mean new professors, new friends and new connections, so how you look at the beginning can determine how those people see you for the rest of the semester. Being that you’ve probably been sleeping in the majority of the summer, waking up for that first 8 a.m. can make throwing on pajamas for the first day of class pretty tempting. But let’s be real, dressing like a slob is never a good look. Wearing sweats can allow you to feel just a little too comfortable, making falling asleep that much easier. By looking put together, you’re proving to yourself just as much as others that you truly do care, and that you’re not above putting effort into the little things. While looking good for class is certainly important, many other occasions during the school year often call for an outfit that’s a bit more professional than just a cute everyday outfit. College classes and internships frequently require students to give presentations, and wearing the right clothing can have almost as big an impact as the presentation itself. Make the right impression (and look really good doing it) with some of my Nasty Gal favorites. Wear these cropped black trousers with crisp white button-down for the ultimate #GIRLBOSS look. Pair the outfit with in-your-face heels and a bold lip color–then go rule your school.
