The weeks leading up to heading back to school can be stressful to say the least. You might be moving into a new apartment or dorm for the year, prepping for your hardest classes yet and/or finishing up an intense internship all at the same time. There’s a lot going on. But one of the positive sides of going back to school? Shopping. As someone who can find a way to justify buying almost anything, back-to-school shopping is something I excel at. Of course I need new outfits, bags, accessories and makeup. It only makes sense.
So when I have the chance to back-to-school shop at Nasty Gal, one of my favorite shopping destinations, I take full advantage of the opportunity. My go-to outfit for heading on campus is always something that has layers, fun details and a pop of color. My favorite part of layering lately? Chunky sweaters. It may be roughly one million degrees in Florida right now, but the bus, local coffee shops and classrooms are still what I would describe as Arctic. That’s why I chose to style this oversized Cheap Monday sweater over a feminine, summery white skirt. Throw a simple tank top underneath, and you’re good to go.
For accessories, I wanted basic items with a pop of color. These Cheap Monday sunnies were just what I was looking for—classic, but with a little edge. They’re perfect with this cobalt “BOSS LADY” clutch.
I paired the look with a comfortable sandal, perfect for running from my apartment to campus. And, of course, it’s all in the details—light nail polish, rings and an easy, stress-free hairstyle are all a must.
Ok, so going back to school still might be rough no matter what, but at least we know that we can all look good in the process, right? Right.
