I have been obsessed with the comfort and style of soft, loose shorts for the summer. Depending on what you pair them with, the same pair of shorts can be dressed down or dressed up based on the occasion, making them a new staple in any Fashionista’s closet.
For this outfit, I found inspiration from the Ganni Copenhagen spring 2017 collection. The high-waisted theme throughout the collection mixed with a pop of color is something that reoccurs in many designers’ collections in the upcoming seasons. Ganni specifically chose a burnt orange and red color for this collection which I especially liked and wanted to mirror in my own look in choosing the shorts that I did.
For my top, I also took inspiration from some of the outfits in the collection, more specifically, the ones that included denim. Denim, whether it be a denim skirt, a great pair of jeans or a button-down chambray shirt, is a piece that is truly timeless and versatile. I thought that tucking in a chambray top to these fun, colored shorts would draw the focus to the shorts, which I hoped to be the focal point of the outfit.
To finish this look, I added a long, faux stone necklace, which added a more bohemian vibe to the outfit. In all, I wanted to create a practical, stylish, yet comfortable look that could be worn to brunch, out shopping with friends. or even to class on those warmer fall days in the beginning of the semester.
