STYLE GURU SYLE: Burberry Gone Boho

Sometimes the easiest way to look good is by finding inspiration from top designers and then recreating it with few pieces. In Burberry’s 2015 ready-to-wear collection one big theme was boho-hippie. For Burberry this mainly meant patterns especially larger ones with one or two key colors that were accented by black, white, gray, brown or beige. Typically the fit of any boho-hippie item is a tailored loose fit. After seeing this runway show, I had one brand in mind: Free People.

The best thing about trying recreate this look was that I found exactly what I was looking for in one piece. One or two-piece ensembles make for an easier day. Whether you are looking for something early in the morning, midday or at night when rushing to meet up with some friends after a busy day. This fitted cotton maxi had just the right colors and pattern that I was looking for. Free People does a great job targeting this boho-hippie group, I saw this maxi on a mannequin and knew it was the one.

With big bold patterns I find it is not necessary to over accessorize, although Free People tends to market their products differently and use a lot of bold statement pieces, necklaces especially. I went with light jewelry like a small rose gold necklace with a crescent moon and a star paired with small bar stud earrings and an Alex and Ani bracelet (mainly out of habit I wear this with everything). For shoes I chose a simple black sandal that straps in the back to go with the black in the pattern of the dress. However, had I had a pair of camel gladiator sandals I would have rocked those.

Get My Look: 1. A maxi dress. 2. Delicate necklace. 3. Kat Von D Lolita.
