STYLE GURU STYLE: Winter Weather Fashionista

Winter weather can sometimes be a damper on personal style, but I find the best way to deal with a case of the sartorial winter blahs is to make the most of accessorizing. When it comes to cold temperatures, it is important to pay attention to practicality. It is great to look cute, but freezing your butt off at the same time is not chic and generally unenjoyable for those involved. Fortunately, it is possible to stay fashionable while maintaining warmth. Fun accessories, such as a fuzzy hat or a cozy blanket scarf can be an easy way to stay warm and still feel stylish. In this outfit, I made use of an oversize scarf and a fuzzy beanie to add interest to an otherwise all-black look.

For this look I used the different shades of blue in the hat and the scarf to complement each other. I layered a simple black dress over a pair of currently trendy fishnets and belted it to highlight my shape. To keep the look sleek and not so bulky, I wore my favourite black coat. The streamlined shape of the coat helps to keep the winter bulk to a minimum, while still staying warm. Fishnet tights are a fun and affordable piece, and they can be used to add a bit of edge or interest to an outfit. To balance the exposure of the fishnets I threw on some over-the-knee boots which helped to keep most of my legs warm in the cooler temperatures. The combination of these pieces allowed for me to still feel on-trend and stylish, but also cozy and comfortable outdoors.
