STYLE GURU STYLE: Winter Blues

Living in the north for the duration of my life, you would think I would be accustomed to cold weather and large amounts of snowfall, but as Keith Urban would say, “Blue ain’t your color,” as in the winter blues. I suppose when you can’t beat em’ join em’ and make it trendy. With fashion moving so quickly these days, and when you highly value your budget as a college student, it’s not always entirely possible to test out all the season’s hottest trends. This is why you should choose wisely which to invest in.

Building a long-lasting wardrobe is all about finding pieces that can be mixed and matched, dressed up or down. I adore pieces that are classic with a slight edge, and have built my wardrobe on such. In this case, I decided to partake in the bell sleeve style that has been all the rage for a handful of seasons, including S/S 2017. The silhouette of the garment is simple, and understated, while the bell sleeve is the focal point of the outfit. There is just something about this slight frill that makes me feel girly and put together. As if it’s the inspiration from Carrie Bradshaw’s playful wardrobe coming out of my inner soul. For a girl who lives and dies by an all-black ensemble, I’ve begun to embrace the winter blues.
